It is a privilege to give a testimony of the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. I am especially grateful for the weekly Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. They open the Bible for us in a practical way and help us to apply our understanding of the truth.

I should like to testify to my healing of an extremely painful physical condition, a healing that resulted largely from the study of the Lesson-Sermon. While I was telephoning during an electrical storm, a bolt of lightning flashed very near my window, and a loud noise came through the telephone receiver. The impact on my ear came with great force, and I felt a severe pain.

Our Lesson-Sermon for that week contained vital and helpful truths relating to electricity. One of them was as follows (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, (p. 293): "Electricity is the sharp surplus of materiality which counterfeits the true essence of spirituality or truth,—the great difference being that electricity is not intelligent, while spiritual truth is Mind." Although I clung to this and other statements of Truth, the intense pain did not subside during the night, and in the morning I asked for help from a friend who is a Christian Science practitioner.
