I was healed of chronic catarrh and sinus infection after suffering from them about twelve years under medical attention. A physician of renown from Vienna, Austria, who was visiting the United States, diagnosed my case as incurable. I resorted to an operation, but the difficulties came back in a more severe form. Through my husband I became interested in Christian Science. After I attended my first service in a Church of Christ, Scientist, my healing was gained, and it has been permanent. This was over twenty-five years ago.

Before I became a student of Science a physician had told me I probably would not be able to have any children and if I did, the birth would not be normal. This made me very fearful. Because my aunt could not have children and my mother had had two abnormal births, resulting in the loss of the children, I was very fearful of what I thought was my human inheritance. When I became interested in Christian Science the fear left me, and the births of our children were normal and harmonious. Mrs. Eddy says (Science and Health, p. 228), "Heredity is a prolific subject for mortal belief to pin theories upon; but if we learn that nothing is real but the right, we shall have no dangerous inheritances, and fleshly ills will disappear."

After the birth of our fourth child the physician in attendance said that a condition had developed that made an operation imperative unless I wanted to spend the rest of my days as an invalid. When I told my practitioner about this, she was able to turn my thought completely away from this prediction. She called my attention to Mrs. Eddy's statement (Science and Health, p. 125): "What is now considered the best condition for organic and functional health in the human body may no longer be found indispensable to health. Moral conditions will be found always harmonious and health-giving. Neither organic inaction nor over-action is beyond God's control." This passage, together with the practitioner's sweet assurance and love, calmed my thought.
