I am grateful for this opportunity to tell of my gratitude for the blessings I have received through an understanding of the teachings of Christian Science. God has been my only physician for over twenty years. Through the study of Science and my efforts to live it, progress has been evidenced in the prevention of sin and sickness.

However, because of the disappointment I felt at not receiving an immigration visa to the United States, for which I had been waiting for over five years, I did not have complete joy and freedom. I was born in Latvia and moved to Guatemala, where I had been waiting for my visa. With the passage of the new immigration laws in the United States there appeared to be little expectation of receiving it. However, I refused to be discouraged, and I said to myself: "Divine Mind governs all. Remember all that God has done for you."

While spending my holidays with a friend in Nicaragua, I received a letter from the United States Embassy in Guatemala saying that my number on the immigration quota had been reached. This good news brought much happiness, and I am most grateful for the blessing of being in the country where Christian Science was discovered by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. My experience helped me to see that time is only a mortal measurement, as Mrs. Eddy tells us.
