Signs of the Times

From a sermon by Edwin Hirst, M.A., in The Christian World Pulpit London, England

Perhaps the most important part of prayer is not that of speech, but of a willingness to listen to God.... We have to say with Samuel: "Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth."

Prayer will help us to know what is God's will for us and for the world. ... Decisions will then be made with greater ease and safety. ... We shall be able to perceive and know what things we ought to do and receive the needful grace and power faithfully to fulfill the same. ... True guidance will be received for living, and divine directions will be accepted quite naturally as indications of God's will.
