In Isaiah we read (55:1, 3)...

In Isaiah we read (55:1, 3): "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters. ... Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live." Nearly thirty years ago in a large midwestern city I was led to attend my first Wednesday testimony meeting at a Christian Science church. At the time I was suffering from a distressing physical condition and felt alone, friendless, and wretched. In despair I entered the open door of the church edifice, scarcely realizing what I was doing. As I listened to the hymns and the reading from the desk I was cheered. The testimonies brought me new hope, for some of those who testified told of healings of far more serious conditions than that which disturbed me.

Following the service, I stopped at the Christian Science Reading Room mentioned in the notices read from the desk. The librarian kindly loaned me a Bible and a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, as well as a Christian Science Quarterly. That very evening I began the study of the Bible Lessons, and gradually I found myself free from my difficulty. I obtained a satisfactory position with a good income and gained a much happier outlook on life.

Since that healing Christian Science has been my only physician. With the occasional aid of a practitioner a number of discordant conditions were healed as I gained greater spiritual growth. Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health (p. 368), "Neither evil, disease, nor death can be spiritual, and the material belief in them disappears in the ratio of one's spiritual growth." A sprained ankle, stomach disorders, the tobacco habit, troublesome traits of character, and unemployment were overcome through the application of Christian Science.
