A CHRISTIAN SCIENCE LECTURE

We waited, with the upper rooms of thought
Prepared for Truth, with hope and faith and love
All ready for the message from above,
The bread of heaven with humble longing bought.

And then the tender words began to fall,
The gentle words, empowered by the Word;
And comfort came, and peace, to those who heard.
The warmth of Love was brooding over all.

And some who came in pain were healed and free,
And some who never heard such words before
Saw a new world as through an opening door
And felt, It is the truth that calls to me.

The burden-weary left with springing tread,
Sad hearts were singing with a new delight;
On all who yearned to know their God aright
The radiance of the Holy Ghost was shed.
