I have a great deal to be thankful for, as my outlook on life has been much improved, my character has been changed, and I am finding joy that cannot be taken away.

I came to America when a young bride and soon learned to speak English, but until I became interested in Christian Science, many years later, I did not learn to read English. When we moved into a neighborhood near a Christian Science church, I decided to attend one Sunday evening. A woman spoke to me and invited me to come again. I appreciated her kindness and accepted the invitation. That was about twenty years ago, and I have been attending ever since.

Soon I purchased a German translation of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and from it I learned to read English. Later I gave the book away, as I now read Science and Health entirely in English. This textbook is my daily companion. I do not see how I could get along without it, and I am grateful that I do not have to.
