Some years ago I suffered a femoral hernia, for which I wore a special belt, as I had much lifting to do. I worked for myself as we are taught in Christian Science, endeavoring to make the demonstration of my freedom. Although I had no pain, the condition persisted. One day I was introduced to a practitioner, to whom I told my trouble. When I asked her if she would help me, she replied that she would take up work for me at once.

When I returned home I suddenly felt as though all was well. However, my fear of the condition returned the following morning, and I got in touch with the practitioner. She told me to know that because there is only the eternal now, no past experience could have ruptured the unity of God and man, Principle and its idea. Also she pointed out that Mrs. Eddy tells us (Science and Health, p. 242), "The divine Science of man is woven into one web of consistency without seam or rent."

In the following days these words from Hymn No. 124 in the Christian Science Hymnal were of much encouragement to me:
