Gratitude for the blessings I have...
Gratitude for the blessings I have received and the desire to help others as I have been helped prompt me to lend encouragement to those seeking healing in Christian Science. My first healing in this Science occurred eleven years ago after all medical skill had failed. I had been operated on for what the doctors had believed to be gall bladder trouble but instead found to be internal cancer. The doctors gave my family and relatives no hope of my recovery. I was taken to the home of my mother in another state to await the end, as I believed.
Upon learning of my plight a dear cousin wrote my mother and recommended that we try Christian Science. My mother called in a neighbor whom she knew to be a student of this Science and asked her if she would help me. How lovingly she responded to this call! Patiently and tenderly she turned my thoughts from sickness to the realization that God is Life, Truth, and Love. At the end of six weeks, as I lay abed pondering this truth, it suddenly seemed that the whole room was illumined, and I knew that I was healed. I shall never cease to be grateful for the spiritual enlightenment that came with this beautiful experience. At this same time I was healed of an injury to one of my limbs that had troubled me ever since I was a small child. Both of these healings have been permanent.
In the past twelve years since becoming a student of Christian Science I have had many other healings, some of which were those of colds, the effects of accidents, and burns. Unlovely traits of character have been overcome, and a happier home has resulted. Pets and farm stock have been healed. Many healings have been accomplished through my own understanding of Christian Science; others have come through the help of the loving friend who first healed me and who has since entered the public practice of this Science.
