Before I became interested in Christian Science I suffered from nervous disorders. Also, specialists told me that unless certain treatments were given regularly I would in time become totally deaf and that one ear was already affected. I started such treatments, but shortly thereafter, due to the sudden passing of a dear one, I suffered a complete nervous breakdown.

My sister, who had become slightly interested in Christian Science and who was much concerned about my health, invited me to her home one day and asked if I would like to read the first chapter, entitled "Prayer," in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I did so, and I shall never forget the peace of mind and comfort which I received. That was my introduction to Christian Science, and I knew that I had found what I had been seeking all my life, the Christ, Truth.

Soon thereafter I purchased my own copies of the textbook and Mrs. Eddy's other writings. In addition I subscribed for the Christian Science periodicals. Just when my healing took place I do not know, but the nervous condition entirely left me, and my hearing became normal.
