My introduction to Christian Science...

My introduction to Christian Science came in 1932 when I accompanied a friend to a Sunday service in a Church of Christ, Scientist. I was greatly in need of Truth, and the words of the hymns, as well as the Lesson-Sermon read from the Christian Science Quarterly, inspired me deeply. In my consciousness dawned a new awareness of the purpose of life: to reflect God. Immediately I began to study the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Since then Christian Science has been my only medicine and God my only physician.

I have experienced many healings. Two of my first ones were the overcoming of sick headaches and attacks of acute indigestion, from which I had suffered for years. These healings have been permanent, and my gratitude to God is very great for this freedom.

Christian Science teaches that what blesses one must bless all. I had proof of this truth during the depression in disposing of family property against which there were many debts. Members of my family who were not students of Christian Science wished to sacrifice the property just to clear the debts, as it seemed impossible to sell it; but I held to the Biblical promise, "I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten" (Joel 2:25), and relied wholly upon divine Love for guidance in taking every step. The result was that a reliable renter was found, who kept his payments current and later bought the property for cash in an amount which cleared all indebtedness, besides leaving a substantial sum for each of the heirs.
