Many blessings have come to me...
Many blessings have come to me and my family through the study and application of Christian Science. I should like to express my gratitude for this truth, for the practitioners, who are so willing to help in times of need, and for the practical realization of the presence and power of God which has come to me in some small measure as a result of my study of the textbooks of Christian Science, the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
One particular experience has been very beneficial to me, because the lesson in it can be applied to many daily problems. My wife and I were motoring one night through desert country. A sudden windstorm blew sand into the distributor of our car, and we came to a stop at a place where the wind, filled with fine sand, was blowing directly at us. Seeing our difficulty, some motorists promised to send back help and drove on. For several hours we waited for the promised help. At last we realized that no more traffic was coming through, as the wind velocity was steadily increasing.
About four o'clock in the morning we looked at the sky. Above the storm raging around us we saw the moon and stars shining as usual in their appointed places, and a sense of peace came over us. As we realized that man in reality is never in a storm, which is an untrue condition of mortal mind, we stopped looking for material help and caught a glimpse of God's omnipresence. The practical result became evident in about five minutes when a tow car appeared out of the flying sand. A chain was hitched to our car, and we were pulled to the nearest town. We were told that upon overhearing a casual remark about our situation from a truck driver who had passed us the owner of the tow car had been impelled to drive out and offer assistance, although he never before had ventured out into such a storm and was required to obtain permission for the trip from the highway authorities because all traffic had been halted until the violent wind abated.
