Many years ago I had my first healing in Christian Science. Since that time I have had other healings, but this first one stands out, as I was in great need of help. Like the woman in the Bible, I "had suffered many things of many physicians ... and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse" (Mark 5:26). For years I had been a semi-invalid. I was seldom without pain and was unable to do the necessary housework and to care for my two small children. My great desire to live for the sake of these little ones prompted me to look for health elsewhere than in the material means which I had so faithfully tried and which had failed me.

In great physical and mental distress I paid my first visit to a Christian Science practitioner. As I listened to her healing words I felt that I was learning about the truth which for many years I had longed to find, and my time-worn theology slipped away. I had an instantaneous healing of a serious organic condition; during the weeks that followed I was healed of a severe nervous condition and freed of the last traces of invalidism. The memory of my healing will ever remain to sustain and comfort me, for it brought a joy I had never known before.
