THE REAL

This is not man—
Frail, and clothed with rags,
Burdened with weight of sadness,
Sickness, pain.
This is not man—
This creature caught
By every storm of fate,
Enslaved by time and death;
This is not he who is the heir
Of every heavenly gift.

Child of God, forever dwelling
Far beyond all touch of earth—
This is man, unburdened, mighty,
Clothed with light.
Knowing not the shadowed valley
In the radiance of His smile,
One with gladness and all good,
Beloved and safe,
Beautiful and free—
This is man.
