AMPLE OPPORTUNITY TO UNDERSTAND REALITY

In Christian Science we definitely have God's final revelation of the reality for which uncounted numbers of conscientious seekers have prayed. Now that this reality is clearly shown by current demonstrations of divine power we find a repetition of the experience of Christ Jesus, of whom we read (John 1: 11-13): "He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." Human delay in proving that spiritual reality is revealed in Christian Science ofttimes is the mortal weakness of believing that religion is a matter of human convenience and that material demands deprive one of time and opportunity for spiritual growth. Christian Science demonstrates freedom from all such unreal restraints. By it one learns there is no divine provision for a time to be born of the flesh, to be sick or sinful, or to die, and no provision to be unmindful of God.

To suppose that the omnipotence of God is equal to unfolding the revelation but that it does not provide ample opportunity for the understanding, acceptance, and expression of it according to Jesus' exemplification obviously is direct denial of the Master's words and works. Infinite Mind is self-existent and self-expressed. Mortal mind laziness does not affect God or man in His image, since divine Mind is in complete charge of its own revelation. The human concepts of time and opportunity plainly are grievous limitations, and these suppositional impositions repeatedly suggest material conditions which would interfere with one's attention to Truth.

Mary Baker Eddy defines "time" in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" thus (p. 595): "Mortal measurements; limits, in which are summed up all human acts, thoughts, beliefs, opinions, knowledge; matter; error; that which begins before, and continues after, what is termed death, until the mortal disappears and spiritual perfection appears." Spiritual opportunity is immortal and continuous and should not be confused with a mortal sense of time and convenience. Its presence assures complete redemption from matter and evil. One cannot rely on mortal mind to provide time and opportunity to study and accept Christ's Christianity, which is superior to much that is called religion, since mortal mind is itself unreality.
