I was drawn to Christian Science through the joy, serenity, and love expressed by students of this religion. At that time I was a sufferer from frequent attacks of utter exhaustion, from a severe skin condition that constantly caused eruptions on my face, and from stomach ulcers and insomnia. I had been under medical treatment for many years and had gained only slight relief from my difficulties.

After securing a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy I began to study the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. One night three or four months later I removed the cloth which I always placed about my eyes to be able to sleep, and from that time on I have never had to resort to any material means to bring sleep. In addition I realized that I was eating anything I wished without discomfort. My face was clear of pimples, and I was happier than I had ever been before. The ills from which I had suffered were completely healed. Calmness, assurance, and joyous expectancy became the theme of my existence.

A discordant situation in human relations was overcome through the truths I learned of God and man in the study of Christian Science. This experience proved the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words in Science and Health (p. 184), "Truth, Life, and Love are the only legitimate and eternal demands on man, and they are spiritual lawgivers, enforcing obedience through divine statutes."
