In the Gospel of John we read...

In the Gospel of John we read of the man who for thirty-eight years lay at the pool of Bethesda waiting for the "troubling of the water." When Jesus asked if he wanted to be healed his reply was (5:7), "Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool." This statement of the impotent man was an awakening to me early in my study of Christian Science, because I realized that I must learn to turn to God for my help and not to person. After a number of years of study and application of Christian Science I am grateful to testify that God's help has never failed me in any situation.

I took up the study of this Science after I lost my parents, my husband, and my health. When the doctors could neither diagnose my case nor heal me, when I could no longer work to support myself and two young children, and when I was about to have my children taken from me because I was unable to care for them, I turned wholeheartedly to Christian Science and was completely healed. I gained my freedom not only from sickness but from financial worries as well.

My first healing came through the reading of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I was healed of a stomach condition, for which the doctors had kept me on a strict diet, and of periodic attacks of acute indigestion, for which I had been taken to the hospital several times. I was also healed of an abdominal ailment which was never named. Since the healing of these conditions I eat without any ill effects whatever food is set before me. This healing has been permanent. Many other healings have taken place in my home, some with the aid of loving practitioners and some through my own work. I was healed of pneumonia, a fractured foot, concussion of the brain, and many minor ailments. Dispositional traits have also been healed.
