The early healings through Christian Science which I enjoyed some twenty-four years ago came as the natural result of my seeking first the kingdom of God, although at the time I was aware only of a great desire to know the underlying truth about things.

During the first few weeks of study in Christian Science I thought of friends and relatives who needed healing, but it never occurred to me that I needed it too. Nevertheless, healings began to take place. I had worn arch supports for several months because of pain in my feet. It seemed incongruous to wear them and rely on Christian Science; so I discarded them. Never again did my arches cause me pain.

After about a week of my study the smoking habit no longer had any power over me. When it had been discontinued I suddenly realized that my sense of smell was functioning properly. That was the end of nasal catarrh, which seemed to have been a part of me for many years.
