Christian Science has given me...

Christian Science has given me blessings so numerous that it would take too much space to relate them all. The following experience is one I am perhaps more grateful for than any other.

During the Second World War, I had the great privilege of reading in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. Owing to war conditions, two testimony meetings were held on Wednesday. One Wednesday after the midday meeting, the subject of which was "Joy," I had official notice that my son had passed on in Germany, where he had been a prisoner of war; no further information was given.

It was imperative that the second testimony meeting be held and that joy be given out through the reading. I realized that I could not allow myself to look down into the sepulcher, but must look up to the living Christ, present with me. I turned to my Bible and opened it, praying for a message. The Bible opened at Ecclesiastes, and I read the following words (5:20): "He shall not much remember the days of his life, because God answereth him in the joy of his heart." I was filled with comfort and was able to conduct the meeting with joy in the attainment of my freedom from grief.
