When the passing of my husband left me alone in a strange city with a family to raise, for some reason I could not go back to the Protestant church of which I had been a member for many years, and I began to read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I found new friends, who were Christian Scientists, and for whose loving friendship I shall always be grateful. Through their encouragement I began to attend the services in a Church of Christ, Scientist. At that time the following words were of great comfort to me (Isa. 52:7): "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!"

Although I did not take up Christian Science for healing, I was healed of many discordant conditions, including insomnia, which had troubled me for many months and which disappeared through my reading Science and Health. An unsightly growth disappeared in a short time when I used the statement (Unity of Good by Mrs. Eddy, p. 60), "This false sense of substance must yield to His eternal presence, and so dissolve."

When I was injured in an automobile accident relatives insisted on calling a physician, who said that I should be placed in a cast and have complete rest for some time; but I refused to do as he recommended. After a period of two weeks, during which I had the help of a Christian Science practitioner, I was able to do strenuous work, and all effects of the accident were soon overcome.
