I should like to relate a healing I experienced in 1949. In applying for an old-age pension, I was required to be examined by two doctors. One of them told me that not one of my organs was functioning properly and that I was so much underweight I could not be expected to live. The second doctor said he could see what condition I was in without examining me. A skin eruption caused me a great deal of discomfort, and my nervous system appeared to be quite shattered. At that time I was walking with the aid of canes.

I went to see a Christian Science practitioner, who lovingly gave me treatment. By studying earnestly I tried to understand the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. The following passage in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," was particularly helpful (p. 242): "Denial of the claims of matter is a great step towards the joys of Spirit, towards human freedom and the final triumph over the body." There were many struggles, but through fidelity to the teachings of Christian Science I was completely healed.

I thank God that Christian Science came into my life, and I am grateful to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for her wonderful work Science and Health, which she gave to the world. I also want to express thanks for the practitioner and her loving help.
