LETTERS TO THE PRESS FROM CHRISTIAN SCIENCE COMMITTEES ON PUBLICATION

In order that sincere seekers of Truth may not be misled, may I ask space in your columns to comment on an item you printed on March 30. This item announced a lecture on Christian Science by ... [a] clergyman. [It] stated that the speaker is "highly competent to discuss his subject."

I am sure you will agree that for an individual to discuss any subject in a competent manner, he must have a demonstrable understanding of it and a desire to handle the subject with absolute fairness and accuracy. While those motives may have been present in [the speaker's] thoughts, I am constrained to say, in all fairness, that reports of his lecture indicated that his listeners did not receive a clear and uncolored picture of Christian Science.
