"MORAL AND SPIRITUAL MIGHT BELONG TO SPIRIT"

Nowhere in her writings does Mary Baker Eddy, the revelator of Christian Science, present her teaching as abstract. She declares that the Science of Spirit is the only real Science and is essentially practical, because only through its understanding and application can mankind gain dominion over evil.

According to dictionary definition, the word moral implies a man's natural sense of what is right. Moral conduct, then, is always right conduct. Integrity of activity and purpose is always moral. It implies right action. Mrs. Eddy in many statements in her writings associates the moral and the spiritual. On page 192 of her textbook,"Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," page 192 she says, "Moral and spiritual might belong to Spirit."

There is, then, a definite connection between God as the divine Principle of the universe and His manifestation evidenced humanly in what we call moral power and action. The spiritual law of the universe is expressed as the immutable law of right. Rightness characterizes every action of true being, and every idea in being possesses and expresses the power and ability to do right and be right. Man, because he is the expression of God's being, manifests the moral and spiritual power of Spirit.
