In deep gratitude to God and to Mary Baker Eddy for Christian Science and for all that this great religion has done for me I give my testimony. I first heard of Science when a young girl making my home with a loving family, the mother of which was a devout student of Christian Science. This woman told me that she had been a medical nurse, but had given up that profession and turned to Christian Science when it healed her of cancer. This healing made a deep impression on me, and I decided that if I ever became seriously ill, I would turn to Science for healing.

Sixteen years later I was told by the doctors that I had an ovarian cyst and would have to submit to a major operation for release from this difficulty. It was then that I decided to turn to Christian Science. At first I was very fearful, as well as skeptical. I knew no one who could help or encourage me in this step, and I went through deep waters of pain and fear. All I knew of this religion was the experience of healing which had impressed me years before.

Finally my husband took me to see a Christian Science practitioner. I shall always remember and be grateful for the kindness, love, and encouragement this dear person expressed. She worked for me for several weeks, during which time I started to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. At first, however, I did not understand it. After a short time my husband urged me to have the operation, but I was beginning to understand a little of the teachings of this religion and desired to go on with my study; and I did so.
