I have been enjoying the fruitage of Christian Science and its revelation of the spiritual significance of the Bible for over twelve years. In Job we read (5:17), "Happy is the man whom God correcteth." I have proved this statement true in my experience many times when I have been willing to be governed by God and not by mortal mind. After I had been smoking cigarettes over a period of years, the habit became distasteful to me. I tried to stop smoking, but could not do so through mere human will power.

One Thanksgiving Day I set about studying earnestly the Bible, as well as Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and I sang hymns and prayed to the best of my ability. I thought of all the blessings I had received, and late in the afternoon I was completely healed of any desire for tobacco. I felt a closeness to my Father, and it certainly proved a holy day for me. That was eleven years ago, and I have never since had a desire to smoke.

I have had many physical healings through Christian Science; some were instantaneous, while others took some time and required a fuller understanding of Truth. A kidney irritation was overcome in one treatment, and I have also been healed of pleurisy, boils, influenza, chronic constipation, and many other things.
