"JUDGE RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT"

Righteous judgment is essential to Christian living. As we learn to use spiritual discernment we shall obey the command given by Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, to the people in the temple at Jerusalem (John 7:24), "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment." To Jesus, righteous judgment came spontaneously and naturally, but others must strive to acquire it.

Jesus called upon his followers to go out into all the world to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, cast out devils, and raise the dead. That his followers in this age may learn how to demonstrate Christ's healing power scientifically, Mary Baker Eddy has given them the fruit of her labors in her discovery of Christian Science. Explaining the Master's method of saving mankind, Mrs. Eddy writes of him in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" as follows (pp. 476, 477): "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick."

In order to make useful contributions to discussion, it is sometimes necessary to exercise our critical judgment in world affairs and in private affairs when we are invited to do so; but in any case we should judge from the standpoint of Principle. The vigilant and constant acknowledgment and declaration of the truth, as revealed in Christian Science, remains, however, the more excellent way, the way of righteous judgment. It is the recognition of the absolute perfection of Mind's creation that heals.
