I did not take up the study of...
I did not take up the study of Christian Science for physical healing, although I was badly in need of it. I wanted most of all to know God, and it seemed to me, from what I had heard of this religion, that Christian Scientists used its teachings in their everyday affairs.
It was nine months before I really began to understand what I was reading in Science and Health, but I did not become discouraged. I put my two boys, who were four and six years of age, in a Christian Science Sunday School, and through their grasp of the truth I too was helped.
The first healing I had in Christian Science was of pain when hot grease was spilled over my hand. I repeated "the scientific statement of being," found on page 468 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and the pain stopped instantly. I finished breakfast without my family's knowing of the experience.
