"FROM A BOUNDLESS BASIS"

"God expresses in man the infinite idea forever developing itself, broadening and rising higher and higher from a boundless basis." Three very important words in this statement of absolute truth from page 258 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy are "infinite," "forever," and "boundless." All of them signify no beginning and no end. As used in this quotation, they refute completely the belief that man has ever had a beginning or can ever have an end; that he has ever been materially conceived and brought forth; that he is limited or circumscribed in any way.

Christ Jesus said (Luke 17:21), "The kingdom of God is within you." To all-inclusive Mind and its infinite manifestation there is no "without." Man, the compound expression of God, includes the right ideas of health, home, companionship, work, security, supply, and so forth. These and all other spiritual ideas have "a boundless basis" and are therefore ever present and ever available.

Human sense believes that man has a beginning and that his welfare depends on others; that harmony, happiness, prosperity, and success depend on extraneous circumstances. In Science this is not so. Man's life unfolds within infinite Mind, or divine consciousness. It is what we see and understand in divine Science of man's reflection of Life, Truth, and Love that determines our experience. If our manifestation of life seems inharmonious and incomplete, this is a false sense mistakenly entertained and should be and can be replaced with the spiritual understanding of Life as God—ever present, eternal, harmonious, all-inclusive, complete, and self-existent—and of man as expressing this Life.
