Christian Science has given me an understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him, for which I am truly grateful.

Years before I began to study this Science, I had proof that it heals and that it heals quickly. One morning I suddenly became blind and weak with an alarming temperature. I thought. If I call the doctor, he will advise my staying in bed for weeks, and I will not be able to take care of my baby and my husband; but if I call a Christian Science practitioner, I will be healed immediately.

We were living in my mother-in-law's home, and I asked her to telephone a Christian Science practitioner. The practitioner asked me to repeat "the scientific statement of being," given by Mrs. Eddy in the textbook. Science and Health (p. 468).I did not have a copy of the textbook, nor did I know the statement. However, my husband read it from his mother's copy of Science and Health, and I repeated it word for word; and then finally I repeated the entire statement. I became conscious of a perfect peace, a delightful coolness, and a sense of freedom that I had never before experienced. I looked at the clock, and exactly fifteen minutes had passed since we had called the practitioner. My temperature was normal, and I arose and took care of our baby.
