Christian Science came to me...
Christian Science came to me many years ago, when I seemed to be in the depths of despair mentally and physically. I was at the time in the home of a Christian Science friend, who was doing all she could to help me physically. Finally one day she said to me, "When you are through with the doctors, let me tell you of Christian Science." That time came very soon, and she called a Christian Science practitioner. When she came, she said to me, "God does not mean for you to suffer." I had never heard anything like that before and was so uplifted and encouraged that when my husband came home he exclaimed at once: "What have you been doing? I have never seen such a change in anyone!" I told him that I had had a Christian Science treatment. He replied that even if it never healed me he would believe in it. Treatment in Christian Science was continued; and although my healing was slow and took many weeks of study and help, we felt we were on the right road, and it was certainly so proved. Christian Science enabled me to have two children in spite of the doctors' verdict that I could never have another child without danger either to the baby or to myself.
I could never enumerate all the healings and blessings which Christian Science has brought to us as a family. It has helped me to be more loving, kind, considerate, and happy. I can never sufficiently express my gratitude to our beloved Leader for her great gift to the world; and I can never cease to be grateful that when Christian Science was offered to me, I accepted it gladly and without a single mental reservation. The truths of this Science lived and practiced are the only solution to the world's problems. We need to know the fatherhood of God and brotherhood of man as given in the Bible and as taught in Christian Science.— (Mrs.) Margaret Stokes Patton, Brookline, Massachusetts.
