The word grateful seems wholly...

The word grateful seems wholly inadequate to express my feeling for Christian Science. The physical healings that have taken place in the short time of my study of this Science have been a great source of inspiration to me and my family, but I am much more grateful for the spiritual understanding that each experience has unfolded. Surely, "with God all things are possible" (Mark 10:27). I should like to relate two healings which have meant much to me.

One Sunday about two years ago I was suddenly stricken with a sense of extreme nervousness, hysteria, severe body trembling, and exhaustion. A practitioner was called, and help was lovingly given. Within an hour all hysteria had ceased, but I could neither talk nor walk. During this experience many lessons were learned through a deeper consecration and study of God and of man's relationship to Him. And false pride over the necessity of my having to be carried from one room to another at this period was also healed.

A Christian Science friend lovingly called and asked if I would like her to read the weekly LessonSermon in the Christian Science Quarterly with me. Although unable to utter a sound, I agreed. As she read from the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I read the Bible just by moving my lips. Halfway through the Lesson I suddenly heard my voice reading in its natural tone. While I was most grateful for this healing, several days later I found that more patience had to be learned, for it was difficult for me to understand why I was not able to walk. Question upon question presented itself, and each time the practitioner lovingly guided me to the truth. All sense of impatience left, and I became more interested in a deeper study of the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings.
