"IMMORTAL MEMORY"

In ordinary usage, memory means the function of mentally reproducing what has been humanly experienced. But Christian Science lifts memory into a higher meaning as a faculty of divine Mind, omniscient Being. This Science reveals divine Mind to be the only Mind and explains that Mind, God, is perpetually conscious of all that exists. In fact, it is Mind's knowing that constitutes the very being of all creation. If Mind were to forget an idea for a single moment, that idea would cease to exist. But Mind, being immortal and perfect, never forgets. What it knows, it knows forever; and it supports with exhaustless power its universe of divine ideas.

Man, the beloved child of God and His immortal reflection, individualizes the faculties of Mind. His consciousness of existence is founded in Mind's omniscience. He expresses Mind's comprehensiveness, its ability to know all; and his retentive energies never lag or deteriorate. He never forgets, and never falters or searches for an idea or a thought. All reality is perpetually included in his consciousness through reflection, and he can never become unconscious of it.

The carnal mind would not have it so and would present a false sense of man, name him mortal, and delude itself into believing that his faculties are imprisoned in flesh and likely to deteriorate with age. But Christian Science does not admit the existence of a carnal or mortal mind, and by demonstrating God as the only Mind of man, the source of his life and thoughts, it destroys the fear and consequently the appearance of a fading memory. It opens the wellsprings of Spirit, whereby man's unity with God is demonstrated in constantly refreshed mental vigor.
