LEARNING AND PROVING

[Of Special Interest to Children]

NOT so many years ago a little boy named David was given a shiny black rabbit with a white star on his head. This little pet he named Star. For three months he kept this rabbit with him all his spare moments, sometimes in the house and often outdoors when he was playing with John and his other schoolmates.

David was eight years old and had just started to go to the Christian Science Sunday School. His mother was attending church while he was learning about God in the Sunday School. He was in a class with seven other boys, and he had a new set of books, covered in bright blue cloth. One was the King James Version of the Bible; the other was the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

David was very happy with his teacher and the other boys. His teacher explained spiritual truths of God and man in a way he could understand. Sometimes the boys would relate how they used these truths at home, at school, and at play. The teacher called this demonstration, or proving the truth. Oh, how David wished he could have a demonstration to tell too!
