USING SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSONS AT SCHOOL

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Paula was a little girl five years old. She had been attending the Christian Science Sunday School since she was two. Now for the first time she was going to school. Of course, it was not really school; it was kindergarten. But Paula had to get up early every morning, get dressed, remember to take her necessary work tools with her, and start of! promptly.

Paula loved kindergarten. She loved the pretty things the children made. She liked the busy activity, with every moment planned. And she found many new friends there. Almost from the very beginning Paula made a wonderful discovery. She found that many of the things she had learned in Sunday School could be used in kindergarten too. One morning they were making animals to go into a nice red barn. Paula spoiled two horses in cutting them out. She tried again the third time, but the scissors seemed to go in the wrong ways, and when she saw the third horse was ruined she could not keep back the tears.

Now in Sunday School her class was learning the Beatitudes, and Paula cried for just a minute and then she remembered the second beatitude (Matt. 5:4), "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." Her Sunday School teacher had explained that God had given His children everything that they needed, for He gave them all good, and so they never lacked anything. The little girl was comforted by this lovely thought, and picking up another horse, she took it to her kindergarten teacher, who lovingly guided her fingers until a fine horse resulted and was placed in the barn.
