I wish to express gratitude for...

I wish to express gratitude for the good which is constantly unfolding in our experience through the daily study and application of Christian Science.

For the past four and a half years God has been our only physician. We have had many physical healings, but the healing I am most grateful for is that of grief. I had this problem to meet many times, and each separation seemed to leave me more grief-stricken than the one before. The last experience was such that I had to seek healing through God, knowing that nothing else could possibly help me. This was obtained by my gaining a more correct concept of Life through my study of Christian Science and with the help of a loving practitioner.

I should like to relate one of the experiences that occurred during this time. One day, as I was struggling for release, studying the works of Mrs. Eddy, these words from a well-loved hymn came to me clearly, as if the were spoken: "Joy cometh in the morning" (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 425). I immediately looked up the definition of "morning" in the Glossary of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 591): "Light; symbol of Truth; revelation and progress." This definition gave me hope and inspiration. I realized that joy would come with revelation and progress. This encouraged me to study and pray for more understanding. Through this demonstration I have gained something of the right concept of Life and a sense of spiritual joy that no circumstance can take from me.
