It is with a humble and grateful...

It is with a humble and grateful heart that I offer this testimony of the healing truth of Christian Science.

When our small daughter was born, Christian Science only was relied upon, and the birth was a very harmonious and happy experience. When she was only a few weeks old, a very discordant condition appeared—one eye seemed to be much smaller than the other one. Although we tried to work in Science, my husband and I became very fearful and disturbed.

One day when the error seemed most apparent, we knew the time had come to take a radical stand for Truth. A practitioner was called, and help was lovingly given. That afternoon my husband went to see the practitioner, and he came home greatly assured. We saw that our need was to establish the present perfection of God and man in our consciousness, as we realized that the baby knew nothing of any mortal imperfection. The basis of our work was the definition of "eyes" as given in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which reads in part as follows (p. 586): "Eyes. Spiritual discernment,—not material but mental." We worked to gain a greater sense of spiritual discernment. In a short time the error vanished, and today when friends meet our little girl, one of the first things they say is, "She has the most beautiful eyes!"
