HOW REAL IS GOD TO US?

Job voiced the longing of the human heart to know God when he cried (23:3), "Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!" This desire to become acquainted with God is answered today in a most satisfying way through the study of Christian Science, for this Science is the Comforter which Christ Jesus promised would come to us. He said (John 14:26), "The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

God, as Father, was very real to Jesus. In studying the four Gospels the student of Christian Science is impressed with the intimate relationship which existed between Christ Jesus and his heavenly Father, divine Mind. The Master was able to impart to his disciples this spiritual sense of God as Father, and it transformed them into Christian preachers and healers.

The Master's mission as the Messiah was to reveal the true nature of God as divine Love. He came to prove that the real man, made in God's image, is spiritual and perfect. Jesus exemplified this perfect man as far as this was possible to do in the flesh; and he proved that the human consciousness, when permeated with the spiritual understanding of man's unity with God, rises above the flesh, or the material sense of things, which claims to separate man from God.
