RIGHT RELATIONSHIPS

Christian Science reveals that Mind is one—that being is one and all-inclusive. It declares that in the unity and oneness of being, all the ideas of Mind are lovingly and forever harmoniously related. As one grasps these divine facts, he begins to see how they may be intelligently applied to what is perhaps the greatest problem of human existence, the business of getting along with one another. It is clear that when individuals demonstrate right and peaceful relationships with one another that same harmony can be demonstrated among nations.

In her writings Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and revelator of Christian Science, makes it clear that the institution of marriage has an important place in our present civilization. She recognizes and commends its stabilizing and moral influence on the human race. On page 56 of her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," she writes, "Until the spiritual creation is discerned intact, is apprehended and understood, and His kingdom is come as in the vision of the Apocalypse,—where the corporeal sense of creation was cast out, and its spiritual sense was revealed from heaven,—marriage will continue, subject to such moral regulations as will secure increasing virtue."

Everything she has said on this subject is of vital importance today, when we are confronted with the evidence of disintegration and undermining of the family and a loss of moral standards. While marriage cannot be regarded scientifically as an absolute state of spiritual being, neither can a human state of singleness. No human state or relationship is perfect, for the obvious reason that no one has yet demonstrated absolute perfection.
