SAFETY IS WHEREVER YOU ARE

Safety is an element of the divine Mind, or God. It is a spiritual quality, which man reflects and embodies and from which he can never be separated. Even as God is universal in nature and expression, so safety is universally known and expressed by man. Hence safety is always where man is, because man coexists with God. Spiritual qualities are not circumscribed in finite sense, by time, space, height, or depth. The spiritual facts of Life, or the truth of being, persist and endure throughout God's kingdom without let or hindrance. It should be plain then that the all-inclusiveness of the divine presence precludes a situation or circumstance that would claim to be unsafe and gives to man the serenity and confidence natural to the orderly and harmonious unfoldment of his being.

In the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we read (p. 514), "Understanding the control which Love held over all, Daniel felt safe in the lions' den, and Paul proved the viper to be harmless." In the same paragraph we further learn that "all of God's creatures, moving in the harmony of Science, are harmless, useful, indestructible." If this is true of God's "creatures." is it not equally true, or even more so, of His highest idea, of whom our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says in "No and Yes" (p. 17), "Man is the climax of creation"?

A sense of insecurity or uneasiness stems from the carnal, or mortal mind, which is an entirely supposititious concept—without substance, form, or real being. It is this false sense of Mind which suggests and argues a material man in a material universe, moved by forces outside of and apart from God's kingdom and beyond His control. A study and understanding of the revelation of Christian Science replaces this false sense with the right idea or spiritual concept of Life, which accords to God and His reflection, man, the dominion and power which, as already stated, are of the very essence of their nature and relationship. The spiritual sense of safety, which evidences God's presence, is experienced as we demonstrate such qualities as humility, guidance, spiritual awareness, a willingness to listen for God's voice and a capacity to hear it. The consciousness of the activity of His will is marked by the absence of and freedom from self-will, or human will.
