"REMEMBER LOT'S WIFE"

A brief and dramatic statement made by Christ Jesus is recorded in the seventeenth chapter of the Gospel of Luke. It consists of only three words contained in one verse: "Remember Lot's wife." The Master, speaking to his disciples of the kingdom of heaven, said, "The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."

Mary Baker Eddy elucidates this statement in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" where she writes (p. 291), "Heaven is not a locality, but a divine state of Mind in which all the manifestations of Mind are harmonious and immortal, because sin is not there and man is found having no righteousness of his own, but in possession of 'the mind of the Lord,' as the Scripture says." The kingdom of God is an individual experience, a state of consciousness. It is a recognition that true consciousness is spiritual and harmonious. It is God-derived, God-controlled, and God-protected. This consciousness is yours and mine, though we may not at present be wholly aware of it.

Mrs. Eddy's declaration, "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." as given in "the scientific statement of being" (ibid., p. 468), is the premise from which all correct conclusions concerning consciousness must be drawn. A consciousness aware of both good and evil is not God-derived. The consciousness of man, who is God's image and likeness, is wholly good, unlimited in scope and infinite in ability.
