"I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings" (Ps 40:1, 2).

I am grateful beyond words for the healing and restorative power of Christian Science. I have been healed of a valvular heart condition, pernicious anemia, constipation that had reached the stage of almost complete stoppage, and miserable headaches, to mention only a few of the ills that have been overcome.

In December of 1945 I truly was at the bottom of a horrible pit. Doctors had given up trying to help me. Many so-called serious difficulties held me in bondage. I had no desire for food of any sort and was being fed intravenously. It seemed that the end was very near for me. One day as I lay on my bed, feeling I was a burden to my loved ones, I remember silently praying, "If You want me, God, take me." Almost immediately I seemed to hear the words, "Why don't you try Christian Science?" It was almost as if someone had said them aloud. I remembered seeing several books on Christian Science in a box of personal things that had been sent to us from a loved one. I arose from my bed, and unassisted I dressed myself and walked more than two blocks from my home to the storeroom in which the box had been placed. Although I did not know which of several boxes contained the books, I found them quickly.
