Dedication of the new church home of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Mercedes, on Sunday, May 27, 1951, brought to mind the early history of the group.

Christian Science literature, including The Christian Science Monitor, was the means of bringing together a group of six Christian Science students in Mercedes, Texas, in 1917.
