That "man's extremity is God's...

That "man's extremity is God's opportunity" was true in my case when Christian Science was first revealed to me. I had attended and joined several orthodox churches in a search for a religion which I could apply in my daily living, but none of the teachings of these religions met my need.

Out of curiosity I ventured into a Christian Science Sunday evening service in a church in the mid-western part of the country. The reading from the desk of the Lord's Prayer with its spiritual interpretation, as given in the textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy (pp. 16, 17), was a most enlightening experience. From that evening the Lord's Prayer has had new and ever-unfolding meaning for me. Regular attendance at services and lectures gave me slowly but surely new and spiritual strength and understanding.

A case of oak poisoning from which I had suffered for six weeks and for which I had submitted to medical care grew worse until the doctor expressed dire fear and said he had done all he could for me. At this time a friend who is a Christian Scientist paid me a visit. She talked to me and asked if I would not rely on Christian Science for my healing. I decided to take my stand, and a practitioner was engaged. In a short time the swollen and inflamed arms and legs were healed, and in three days I was back at work and entirely free.
