HEALING THROUGH SPIRITUAL EXALTATION

Spiritual healing of human problems has ever been brought about by means of spiritually exalted thinking. It is the natural effect of the elevation of thought from false concepts of life as material to the truth of being, wherein God is recognized as infinite, ever-present Spirit and man as dwelling within His infinitude. Christian Science teaches that the scientific basis for spiritual healing of all discord is the comprehension of God as divine, impartial Love, or Principle, eternal and all-embracing. Spiritual healing includes the acknowledgment of the universe and man as being forever spiritual, perfect, complete, and harmonious. From this basis also evil, or error, is seen as unreal, since it is the direct opposite of Truth.

Imperfection, inharmony, and destruction cannot be included in reality or be experienced by God's man. Because God is All-in-all, only that which is wholly good and perfect can be real and present. This profound, yet simple truth, recognized and demonstrated even by small children, is inspirational, practical, and healing. It confers upon us a wonderful sense of the presence of divine Love and so dispels the belief in and fear of mortality and sin. It strengthens and justifies our expectation of happiness and security. It discourages shallow sanctimony and false zeal and encourages and demands self-discipline and the purification of thought, so leading to genuine regeneration.

Christian Science presents an intelligent, rational viewpoint of God and spiritual existence which invites honest and sincere investigation and remains immovable before the most scrutinizing analysis. The vast spiritual power inherent in exalted thinking is best described in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. There we read (p. 598): "One moment of divine consciousness, or the spiritual understanding of Life and Love, is a foretaste of eternity. This exalted view, obtained and retained when the Science of being is understood, would bridge over with life discerned spiritually the interval of death, and man would be in the full consciousness of his immortality and eternal harmony, where sin, sickness, and death are unknown."
