At an early age I was enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School, because many wonderful blessings had come to our family through a healing that had occurred as a result of Christian Science treatment. The Sunday School training has been of inestimable value to me throughout the years. School problems were quickly and intelligently met through the application of the teachings of this Science, and a very ugly and painful skin disease was completely healed.

I cannot express sufficient gratitude for the help that Christian Science has been to me in business. During the war years, when our office was short of help, I offered to take over added duties in order to be of better assistance to my employer. This involved sales work and calling on the trade. This seemed most difficult, since I was struggling with a sense of timidity; and because I entertained this false sense, I felt unqualified for the work. However, I clung steadfastly to the many spiritual ideas that I received from my daily study of the Bible and from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and the other writings of Mary Baker Eddy. I was able to overcome timidity and was successful in the sales work. The first paragraph on page 128 of Science and Health was a constant help to me.

About five years ago a very painful physical condition presented itself. For over a year I was unable to lie flat on my back when I retired. The only rest I received was sitting propped up in bed, and on many occasions I found it necessary to sit up in a chair. I never ceased to seek God's help. A friend, who was not a student of Christian Science, was convinced that the physical condition I was confronted with was of a very serious nature, and she pleaded with me to have a physical diagnosis. I lovingly told her that I felt I already knew more about the discord than I wanted to know and that it was my duty to work for a better understanding of my relationship to God, for in this way only could I be healed. I knew that with God all good is possible and that "every function of the real man is governed by the divine Mind" (ibid., p. 151).
