THE POWER OF GRATITUDE

True gratitude is inseparable from spiritual power. It is the acknowledgment of the allness and oneness of God and of His omnipotent love for and ever-present ability to preserve His creation at all times. Gratitude stems from the joyous acceptance of the truth that as God's own image and likeness man forever reflects the inexhaustible abundance and affluence of his Father-Mother God. Because of the inseparability of God and His idea, man can never for a moment be parted from his divine source of all good. Because man is the manifestation of infinite Mind, he is aware of his true status as a child of God, as His reflection. He reflects infinite intelligence; therefore he knows that he exists at the standpoint of sufficiency at all times.

Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, states in "No and Yes" (p. 30), "It is Truth's knowledge of its own infinitude which forbids the genuine existence of even a claim to error." And farther on she adds, "The consciousness of light is like the eternal law of God. revealing Him and nothing else."

Every reason for true gratitude is included in the knowledge that man is spiritual, that he reflects perfect Principle and is consequently governed and controlled by divine law, and that there is therefore no other power or law that could even seem to affect his life. Such self-knowledge fills one's entire being with an ineffable glow of well-being that touches with the sunlight of Truth all who come within its radius.
