DOING WELL AND LOOKING WELL

"How do you do? I am so  happy to see you! My, how well you are looking!" These words of greeting were startling to one who was walking down the street engrossed in thought. After a few further remarks in the same effusive manner, the speaker hurried away without waiting for a reply. The one addressed, a student of Christian Science, pursued her course, somewhat amused until the spiritual significance of the greeting dawned upon her, giving rise to some Soul-searching questions.

She asked herself: Just how do I do? While engaging in the daily study and application of Christian Science am I more thoughtful and considerate of others than formerly? Do I refuse to judge by outward appearances: that is, do I accept the aggressive mental suggestion of life as material and mortal, subject to birth, development, and death? Am I penetrating the material appearances and proving God to be the one causative Mind? Mary Baker Eddy says: "Jesus of Nazareth was the most scientific man that ever trod the globe. He plunged beneath the material surface of things, and found the spiritual cause" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 313).

And what am I thinking of man? Do I see him as the spiritual, perfect reflection of God, at one with Him; do I see him as complete, including every right idea? If I am obedient to the teachings of Christian Science, I am accepting and proving these spiritual facts.
