I did not take up the study of the Christian Science textbook. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, primarily for healing, but for a greater and higher understanding of God. From early childhood I have loved and studied the Scriptures, but there were many things I had been taught which did not satisfy me or give the desired answers to my questions. When this Science was presented to me. I found that it truly is the promised Comforter and when correctly applied heals all our diseases.

I have experienced many healings through the application of this Science; some through the work of practitioners and some through my own understanding of through truth. I have been healed of a tendency to severe colds which would continue for several weeks. Chronic constipation, severe spinal trouble, bursitis. recurring attacks of iritis which would necessitate confinement in a darkened room, rheumatic ailments, and the need of constantly wearing glasses since a child—all have disappeared, never to return.

For the protection that an understanding of Christian Science gives, I am grateful. Some time ago, while I was watching an evening display of fireworks, two burning particles fell on my face, one very close to the eve, the other on my arm. I brushed them off and immediately declared "the scientific statement of being," as given on page 468 of the textbook, and I continued with this declaration until I arrived home a half-hour later. No pain or discomfort was experienced at any time, and the scars very soon disappeared. A few weeks after this experience I fell the full length of a flight of stairs. Again through the application of "the scientific statement of being." I was completely freed from any painful aftereffects. Mrs. Eddy says on page 379 of Science and Health, "The real jurisdiction of the world is in Mind, controlling every effect and recognizing all causation as vested in divine Mind." Christian Scientists are daily proving the truth of this statement by understanding and realizing the oneness and allness of Mind and man's inseparability from God, the divine source of his being.
