Christian Science was presented to me in 1905 by a dear sister. We were both nurses, and she had witnessed a healing which had caused her to become interested, to read the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and to attend church services.

She explained to me facts from the Bible: that atonement is man's unity with God rather than Jesus vicarious suffering, that Jesus was not God, as I had believed, but our Way-shower, and that the works which he did were being repeated in our day. She told me of Mrs. Eddy's discovery through her own healing of the effects of an accident and of the book she had written. From my earliest childhood I had been taught the Bible and later was myself a teacher in an orthodox Sunday School, but the practical application of the Scriptures came to me as I read the Christian Science textbook.

From this time my life was completely changed, and fear gave place to confidence. My work was now with Christian Science practitioners and patients, and I saw healing and especially freedom from fear. Also I gained a better understanding of God and my relation to Him as reflection.
