Too long have I waited to express my profound gratitude for Christian Science and for Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science and the author of our beloved textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and other writings.

I first heard of Christian Science many years ago when I was attending college, but I did not see or read any of the literature until a good many years later, when a friend, who was often in my home, seeing my need, told me something about Christian Science and brought some of the literature to me. This I read, but at that time found it difficult to understand.

No individual was ever more in need of this truth. Medicine had availed nothing, and physicians were baffled. Friends and relatives who saw me wondered how one in such condition was alive. In 1924 my condition was pronounced critical and beyond the help of medicine by a world-renowned physician and surgeon. However, it was not until sorrow caused me to seek comfort in Christian Science that I began an earnest study of it, applying it to my physical needs also.
